Battlefield: Portal was recently revealed at EA PLAY Live on July 22nd. Led by Los Angeles-based Ripple Effect Studios, Battlefield: Portal is a first for the Battlefield franchise. This expansion to Battlefield: 2042 will bring a community-driven platform designed to offer a wide variety of imaginative experiences by giving players the tools to set their own rules and build their own definitive Battlefield experience. It will also give players the chance to discover, create, and share battles from older Battlefield games. Battlefield: Portal will be available at launch as one of the three core experiences available with Battlefield: 2042 on October 22nd.
An Historical Sandbox
Player creativity and imagination are at the forefront of Battlefield: Portal’s experience. Players will be able to use a powerful creation suite that includes Settings, custom modes, and a Logic Editor. These features provide the use of a wide range of equipment, weapons, vehicles, and more from its historical catalog. Locations from Battlefield: 2042 are present alongside fan-favorite maps from Battlefield: 1942, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 3.
The creative tools that Portal showcasesprovide an opportunity to go beyond any other Battlefield title previously. With the ability to create unique modes and experiences, players can play through history in a new look. Older Battlefield experiences explored such eras as World War II and the Russo-American conflicts. Locations like El Alamein, The Battle of The Bulge, and Arica Harbor featured in previous titles will be available for players to delve into. A heavy emphasis on a reimagining of old and modern history takes priority within Battlefield: Portal’s player-built, sandbox-based gameplay.
Something for Every Player to Enjoy
Battlefield: Portal proves to be a promising addition for new and veteran players alike. Everything from the three theaters of war from older titles to the modern settings of 2042 will be available for players to integrate into their unique experiences. A wide array of tools and selections provide ample choice, bringing a unique flair to every battle. Veterans of past Battlefield games will enjoy revisiting older conflicts while new players can toy with the creative tools with pure ingenuity. Modern and old history can be explored in new ways using a vast list of customization options, provoking a truly unique experience that blends history with the past, present, and future.
