Humankind, a historical strategy game set during the Neolithic Era through the Contemporary Era by Amplitude Studios, was recently released in beta on June 13th. The closed beta is expected to run until June 21st. This beta will go beyond the scope of previous OpenDevs, or Amplitude Studios pre-launch fan playtests of the game. What this beta will bring will be the first taste of Humankind’s Industrial Era, introducing new features and cultures for players to test. Along with the new era, players will finally get the chance to test out five of the six available ages – unless they reach 200 turns. As Humankind continues to draw near its release, these OpenDevs show what the game will look and play like in the future.
New Closed Beta Features and Gameplay
With the release of Humankind’s closed beta, players will have ample access to experience and playtest the new features and era added to the game. What the developer has added comprises the new Industrial era, which introduces ten new cultures, allowing players to build railways to transport goods and move troops quickly at a low cost. Players can also take advantage of oil and coal to get their civilization’s economy booming. Alongside these new in-game building features and economy, there will be a chance to engage in the biggest battles in the game yet, in which you can call upon long-range artillery bombardments and attacks from the sides to keep enemies at bay. The added features of the Industrial Era go beyond anything Amplitude has showcased during any other OpenDev, and it’s clear that large-scale battles, new buildings, and new economy tools will really entice players to advance before hitting that 200-turn cap of the beta.
The new closed beta for Humankind has improved and expanded the scope of previous playtests that Amplitude Studios has released. Previous OpenDev playtests focused more on the game’s early stages and what players can experience at the beginning. With the addition of an important era in history technologically, the game expanded upon its strategic civilization-building experience. Fans and players alike can look forward to this close beta as it’s live to play until next week. Humankind and its historical gameplay will continue to be expanded upon as the release date approaches.
The Release and Continued Development of ‘Humankind’
The closed beta marks the most significant expansion upon Humankind, only two months before the official release of the final build on August 17th. Players and fans can look forward to the release and its continued progress. Humankind has a historically authentic strategy, a civilization-building experience for many to experience on the horizon. With many different eras in history to begin or continue off on, the game showcases its gameplay with the historical background supporting it. Humankind and its solid historical experience continue to be in the works along with the closed beta, which will run until next Monday, June 21st.
