Going Medieval, an upcoming city building sim set within the medieval ages, has finally been given a launch date by its developers Foxy Voxel. The game is set to come to Steam Early Access later next month, on June 1st at a launch price of $24.99 with a 10% discount limited time offer.
Going Medieval features some very charming low-poly graphics reminiscent of Valheim and Old School Runescape, and gameplay not unlike other popular city-building sims such as Sim City and Tropico. Players take control of their village during the 14th century, just after the medieval civilization has been hit with the plague. With the world in dire need of rebuilding, “survivors emerge from society’s ashes, and it’s now up to [players] to help them settle in a dangerous new land reclaimed by nature.” Players must “build [their] people a home, help shape their lives, and protect them from animals, bandits, and other dangers in a lawless post-calamity age.”
Throughout the game, players will utilize 3D terrain tools, upgrade from rudimentary wooden huts to giant stone castles, and help fend off various monsters and enemies, all while trying to keep their villagers safe, healthy, and happy. The game looks to be a blend of both classic city building sims and modern survival games, with elements drawn from both genres.
Those who are anxious to try out Going Medieval and can’t wait until next month are in luck, as the developers will be offering gamers one last beta before launching on Early Access, which will run from May 21 at 1AM PST / 4AM EST / 9AM BST to May 24. The beta is open to signups right now on the game’s Steam page, and the developers have confirmed that everybody who signs up will be able to try it. As a bonus, any progress made in the beta will directly carry over to the Early Access version.
With only a few weeks away from launch, players can check out the game’s page on the Steam Store and add it to their wishlist and check out the various gameplay videos and screenshots for additional information.
Going Medieval is the first major release by newcomer developers Foxy Voxel, however it’s just one of the many titles to be published by The Irregular Corporation. Some of the Irregular Corporation’s titles include such games as PC Building Simulator, Mars Horizon, Good Company, and Murder by Numbers.
