Fans of ancient Chinese warfare are in for a treat as the newest DLC pack for the strategy title Total War: Three Kingdoms, entitled Fates Divided, has just launched. The new content update adds in a new campaign, which starts at 200 CE and focuses on the Battle of Guandu. The DLC update also includes some significant improvements to several in-game mechanics, a new faction, new units, and new playstyles for already established factions.
Fates Divided features a brand new campaign that focuses on Yuan Shao and Cao Cao, two childhood friends turned enemies as their growing ambitions get in the way of each other. Players have the choice to play as either Cao Cao in his quest across the map or as Yuan Shao, who must try and stop him. Players are also able to play as other characters such as Liu Bei and Ma Teng, who are aiding the two leaders and Lui Yan.

The new downloadable content will also add a significant amount of new units for Cao Cao, Yuan Shao, and Liu Yan and the opportunity to unlock new elite Northern Army Units. Overall, there’s plenty of new content included in this paid downloadable expansion pack.
Total War: Three Kingdoms originally launched back in 2019 and is one of the newest entries into the long-running Total War game series. The series has covered a wide range of different periods and settings, including Ancient Rome, Medieval Europe, Feudal Japan, and much more.
Three Kingdoms took the series to Ancient China for the first time, with the game featuring a turn-based campaign of empire-building and conquest in massive real-time battles. Developed by Creative Assembly, the title is the thirteenth entry into the series. Upon its release, Three Kingdoms received wide praise from both fans and critics alike and currently sits at an impressive Metacritic score of 85.
Since releasing Three Kingdoms, Creative Assembly has developed Total War Saga: Troy, which took players to Ancient Greece for the first time. Both titles continue to receive additional content. Creative Assembly has already announced the series’ next installment, Total War: Warhammer III, which is set to release later in 2021 and will serve as the conclusion to the Total War: Warhammer trilogy of games.
Total War fans can purchase and download Total War: Three Kingdoms - Fates Divided right now for $9.99. The content is available now on Steam.
